General Electric, Salem, VA

When General Electric realized that an important corporate business meeting was to be held in only a few weeks, and their two main conference rooms needed some repair and care, they knew exactly who to call! We sent one of our "rapid response" installation teams to completely re-wire two of their conference rooms (with one also getting a new video projector from Boxlight) for improved tabletop connectivity as well as a much improved aesthetic appearance. Rather than having unsightly cables hanging down from the projector at the ceiling to connect to a computer (that's what GE was forced to do before we arrived), we installed new analog and digital video inputs in a recessed conference table pockets and extended those wires through the floor, up the wall, and over to the projectors.

202 Market, Roanoke, VA

During 2006 and the early part of 2007, Roanoke's downtown market area was under construction with several new projects underway. One of the larger changes was the debut of 202 Market, a fine dining and evening entertainment establishment that would occupy the space vacated when Books, Strings, & Things left Roanoke. The owners asked us to work with the design and construction team to create a space for dining, special events, and live music that had never been seen in Roanoke before then. Working with the interior design team, we helped create just the right atmosphere using LED and fiber optic color washes (like the one seen on the wall in this photo) as well as two complete live music venues, several dining rooms that could double as meeting / banquet spaces, and a large videowall that could be seen by vehicles and pedestrians as they passed by the building.

Church of the Transfiguration, Fincastle, VA

When our friends from Church of the Transfiguration asked us to design and build a custom roof-mounted tower to hold a paging horn for their bell tower carrilon system, we were happy to assist. In this photo you can see two of our able installers, Chris and Trey, making the final connections for the first horn and adjustments to the tower frame and guy wires. And you thought we only worked indoors and never got a tan!
The tower supports the two 60-pound loudspeaker horns and is firmly attached to the roof of the church. |

Shaw Technology Classroom in the Shaw Science & Technology Building of Chatham Hall, Chatham, VA
Shaw Technology Classroom, or simply "Shaw Tech" as known by students and faculty, is Chatham Hall's primary technology classroom on campus. This classroom features seating for about 40 students and includes a video projection system, streaming video and audio for distance learning, video recording using multiple remote controllable pan-tilt-zoom video cameras, and provisions for multiple computer and video inputs. In addition, the system is capable of providing source playback through a stereo sound system as well as amplification of a teacher's voice through overhead ceiling loudspeakers. In this project, we were asked to upgrade the existing system by replacing a broken video matrix switcher and re-writing the Crestron control system to make the system a lot easier to use.

For those that have found this blog, welcome! I hope to be able to provide everyone with a view into some of the more interesting projects that we're working on (don't worry, some photos of our installers at work will be coming) as well as providing some "technical notes" and other interesting tidbits that might be of use to our friends and clients. As this blog proceeds and grows, I hope to make it interesting for a wide range of users, and I would welcome any input that you folks would want to provide regarding topics you'd like me to cover or examples of installations that might be close to what you're looking to do in your facility or venue. Enjoy! |
